Beech timber is our main product to which we give our full attention and expertise. Obtained from quality logs , processed with advanced equipment that provides a perfect wood cutting, the timber produced by EXPANSION is distinguished by quality. The lightly steaming process (8-10 hours), the antifungus treatment and a well-controlled drying process (moisture content 10%±2%) are leading to a stable lumber without internal tensions.

Widths for standard boards:
- 10 cm and more, with an average of about 14 – 16 cm on the pallet for short, medium and long timber
- 8 cm and more, with an average of about 12 – 13 cm on the pallet for supershort timber
Widths for narrow boards:
- 7, 8 and 9 cm on same pallet for short, medium and long boards
- 5, 6 and 7 cm on same pallet for supershort boards
All specifications are available as FSC® 100% certified timber and/or NON-certified timber.
Length measurement: bonus from 0 to 9,9 cm for short, medium and long boards or from 0 to 4,9 cm for supershort
Example: all lengths from 2.00 m, 2.01, … to 2.09 m are calculated and invoiced in 2.00 m and all lengths from 0,50 …. 0,54 are calculated and invoiced in 0,50 m
Width measurement method of 7 up, 6 down
Example: 12.6 is calculated and invoiced in 12 cm and 12.7 cm is calculated and invoiced in 13 cm.
Grade A (allows about 10% in 3FC in the same pallet)
It is the highest grade that we produce. The pieces from this class have an uniform appearance, free of knots or red heart, the beauty of the beech wood being fully revealed.
3FC grade
The traces of healthy red heart and/or one accidental non-penetrating knot, on one side of the piece (face or edge), do not affect substantially either the uniformity and the beauty of the wood, or the use intended for this material. To be mentioned that these knots do not appear on more than 10% of all pieces in a shipment.
Lengths:
- 0,30 – 0,95 m supershort timber
- 1,00 – 1,70 m short timber
- 1,80 – 2,00 m medium timber
- 2,10 – 4,00 m long lumber
Packing: one length / pallet.
Grade A - Long

Grade A is our highest grade. The pieces have a uniform appearance, free of knots or red heart, the beauty of the beech wood being fully revealed.
Grade AB (Allows sound red heart. Allows some knots on max 10% of pieces.)
A grade
Admits the healthy red heart. The pieces don’t have red heart on more than 30% -40% of the width. Healthy red heart doesn’t affect the durability, stability, or the processing qualities of the wood. Healthy knots under 10 mm diameter are not taken into account and over this diameter a single healthy knot is allowed on a length of 2 meters. All allowed knots are non-penetrating.
B grade
Admits the healthy red heart over the limit in A grade. The healthy knots under 20 mm diameter are not taken into account and over this diameter two healthy knots are allowed; one might be penetrating, on a length of 2 meters.
None of the grades allows defects such as: mold, insect holes, and defects from processing or storage.
